Pro Helvetia is a foundation mandated by the Swiss Confederation to promote artistic creation in Switzerland, contribute to cultural exchange at home, promote the dissemination of Swiss culture abroad and foster cultural outreach.
The Arts Council supports artistic creation from Switzerland, as well as projects that help to create and disseminate artistic works or contribute to artistic exchange between Switzerland’s language regions or to arts outreach. It supports projects in the areas of the visual arts, music, theatre, dance, literature and society, as well as multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary projects.
Pro Helvetia maintains a network of offices abroad to support it in its task of promoting Swiss culture throughout the world. In collaboration with the liaison offices in Cairo, Johannesburg, New Delhi and Shanghai the Arts Council offers studio and research residencies.
